A mysterious journey unfolds for a group of London émigrés as they sail toward New York.
1899 finally has a date to set sail. The new mystery-thriller series from the creators of Dark is due to launch on Netflix Nov. 17. The show tracks a group of multinational immigrants aboard a ship sailing from London to New York at the end of the 19th century. When their ship comes across another adrift at sea, some weird stuff starts to happen, and the group finds itself in the midst of a pretty hairy situation.
The international ensemble cast, featuring new faces and beloved actors from popular Netflix series, revealed the release date during a Zoom call featured in the Tudum fan event. With five distinct celebrations, Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event includes first-look photos, never-before-seen footage, new trailers, behind-the-scenes access, celebrity appearances, interviews, and more from over 100 of your favorite series, films and specials.
The show’s cast responded enthusiastically to fan theories about the show. Stars like Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen from The Rain and Borgen even shouted out one fan’s popular theory that attempted to peg a release date for the show based on a room number glimpsed in the teaser trailer. That date wasn’t right, unfortunately, but you’ve really got to respect the hustle.
